October is Principal Appreciation Month, and Vernon ISD is spotlighting all six of the principals in our district.
Scott Hogue joined Vernon ISD 3 months ago as the interim principal at McCord Elementary. Hogue spent 8 years as a principal with Throckmorton ISD, and was a superintendent for 17 years. Before becoming an administrator, he was a teacher and coach for 10 years.
He began coaching while he was still in high school, and also coached some while he was attending college. Hogue said he has always loved kids, and feels that being a teacher is truly the most important profession someone can aspire to.
Hogue enjoys being a principal because he gets to influence the direction and culture of the school he is leading. At McCord, he added his favorite things are the hugs he gets everyday from the kids and the true dedication of the faculty and staff.
