
In accordance with HB 1481, Vernon ISD students will not be allowed to use cell phones or other personal communication devices during the school day. If brought to school, all devices must be turned off and put away. Those who violate this policy will have their device confiscated. The device will be returned to a parent or guardian at the end of the school day.


The Lions were back at it this morning, getting the work in as they prepare for the 2025 season. They get to put on the pads Friday and will have a special and fun Midnight Madness Practice starting at Midnight Friday night and continuing until 1:30 a.m., Saturday.






Remember today is the DAY for the Back to School Bash at the Boys & Girls Club!! The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Club. School supplies will be given away and they'll be fun and games, entertainment and food vendors!! Don't miss it!!


This morning during our 2025 VISD Convocation, teachers who earned Teacher Incentive Allotment recognition for the 2024-25 school year were recognized and received their allotment checks. Teachers cited as "Recognized" received checks ranging from $7,503 to $7,842; "Exemplary" level teachers received checks ranging from $15,006 to $15,685; and our "Masters" teacher received a check for $28,134. This morning Vernon ISD held it's Convocation to welcome back all teachers and staff for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. The morning kicked off with a breakfast hosted by the district in the Empire Room of Wilbarger Auditorium. Following the breakfast, teachers and staff moved into the main auditorium to hear guest speaker Ty Duncan, who was followed by VISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward who gave his "State of the District" address. Teachers and staff are attending professional development sessions this week and early next week. The first day of classes for the upcoming school year is Wednesday, Aug. 13.











Excitement was in the air this morning at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium, as the Vernon Lions stepped onto the field for their first day of two-a-day workouts! The Lions will open their 2025 campaign at home on Aug. 29 when they host the Burkburnett Bulldogs. Reserve seat season tickets are now on sale to those who purchased season tickets last year. Today was the first day for high school volleyball teams to participate in two-a-day workouts and the Lady Lions took to the court this morning. They worked at various conditioning stations before moving on to volleyball skill drills. Their first scrimmage is a week from today in Childress, and they open the 2025 season on Aug. 11.

Today was the first day of two-a-day workouts for high school tennis programs across the state and members of our VHS tennis team hit the courts early this morning. The Lions open their 2025 Fall Season on Monday, as they host Lubbock Cooper Liberty at 10 a.m., and Lubbock Coronado at 2 p.m.




Thursday, 50 VISD teachers from all campuses, some new to the district and some returning staff, participated in Capturing Kids Hearts professional development. Capturing Kids' Hearts is a program designed to create positive and effective learning environments in schools by focusing on social-emotional wellbeing, building strong relationships, and fostering a sense of connectedness among students and staff. It aims to transform school culture through relationship-based strategies, ultimately improving student behavior, academic performance, and overall school climate.



VHS volleyball players will hit the court tomorrow for first day of two-a-day workouts as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 season.


It has become a tradition for seniors to pick and paint a parking space to be "theirs" for the year. This year, Aug. 13 -- the first day of school -- is the first day seniors can pick up applications to pick their parking space. Check out the details below.

Today Vernon ISD welcomed our new teachers who will be joining us for the 2025-26 school year. Due to work being done on the VHS roof, the orientation was held at the Vernon Administration Building.



Vernon ISD in-person registration/enrollment for the 2025-26 school year is being held today in the cafeteria of the Vernon Elementary School. The morning session will continue until 12:30 p.m. The afternoon session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Please use the South door -- marked A4 -- to enter the building.
