Final shots from this morning's field trip for the Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade ESL students who are in our Summer School Program. They visited the Carnegie City-County Library and met Luke Morrison's horse, Cheetoe.
Our Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade ESL students enjoyed getting to meet Luke Morrison's horse, Cheetoe, at the Carnegie City-County Library this morning. Luke read "If I Had a Horse" to the children during Summer Storytime before they went out to see the horse.
This morning the Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade ESL students enrolled in our VISD Summer School Program, took a field trip to the Carnegie City-County Library for its Summer Storytime Program. Luke Morrison, pastor of the Western Trail Cowboy Church, read "If I Had A Horse" to the children during the program, and then the they went outside and met Luke's horse, Cheetoe.

Our Lions are looking forward to a great football season in 2023 and you don't want to miss it!! Season tickets with reserved seating went on sale today!!! Check out the info below. Angel is at the Vernon ISD Administration Building Monday thru Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. If you pay for tickets online, please print and bring receipt when you select your seats and pick up your tickets.
Vernon will be well represented this weekend as we have five Lions and a Lady Lion taking part in the Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl All-Star Games in Wichita Falls. Action starts Friday evening with the all-star basketball games and continues Saturday with volleyball and football games. Go support and cheer for our Lions and Lady Lion.

Jennifer Newcomer had students in her kindergarten and first grade ESL class sound out letters she showed them on flash cards, and repeat sentences after her during their Summer School class Tuesday morning. After hearing a sentence, the students would count the number of words in the sentence as they repeated it back to the teacher. Summer School started Monday and will continue until June 22.

VISD Supt. Dr. Ward isn't even a full-fledged member of the Vernon Lions Club yet, but look who showed up to volunteer and work the concession stand Monday night for the Kid League Baseball games. He even took the busiest and messiest assignment -- the snowcone window!!!
The stacks of books in front of kindergarten students Rhea Snow and Annabelle Hurd are tall, but just envision them being 6 times taller and that would be close to the number of books the two youngsters read during the 2022-23 school year.
