We have wonderful paraprofessionals at all of our campuses and Vernon ISD would like to recognize them today on Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!! Whether they're working to ensure everything runs smoothly at their campus, or helping teachers in the classroom, they give their all EVERY DAY to help VISD provide the best education possible for our students. Those who attended the Vernon ISD Community Resource Fair Saturday morning received a lot of information about organizations that provide a variety of assistance programs and services to local families. There were also fun things for the children to do as well.

Hi Family and Friends of McCord Elementary, Our Popcorn Fundraiser is almost ready and will begin tomorrow, April 1st! We are selling the best gourmet popcorn for our school and it’s all online! The money raised will go towards our PIP Rallies and other activities to celebrate our success at school. Would you be willing to support McCord Elementary by purchasing some popcorn? As part of Texas Farm Bureau's Ag Literacy Week, local farmer Michael White stopped by McCord Elementary Wednesday to read a book to our 1st grade students. He read "Potatoes For Pirate Pearl," which is a book available through the Farm Bureau Book Program.

Our VISD Community Resource Fair is coming up this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the VHS Cafeteria. Several organizations from the community will be on hand to provide information on all the services that are available to help families in Vernon and the surrounding area. There will also be some games, a bounce house, face painting, and free popcorn. Come on out and enjoy the fun.

KID LEAGUE DEADLINE!! Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 26 is the deadline to register for Kid League Baseball. Register by scanning the QR Code below or go to www.vernontxyouthbaseball.com There will be divisions for 5 year olds thru 8th graders.

We're a week away from Skandor Akbar Memorial Cup, a professional wrestling event sanctioned by King of Sports Championship Wrestling. The six-man tag team tournament will be held Saturday, March 29, at D.O. Fulton Gym. Skandor Akbar was the name Vernon resident Jimmy Wehba used in the ring during his professional wrestling career. Tickets are $15 general admission and $25 ringside. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the first match set for 7 p.m.

There will be games and food -- including bounce houses, cornhole, face painting, popcorn, snowcones and more!! More than 10 door prizes including a Fitbit and Amazon Tablet! There will also be several local organizations providing information on resources available in the area.

Dr. Seuss Week wrapped up Friday with "Oh Where They Will Go" Day, as students dressed in clothes representing what they wanted to do when they grew up. We had football players, doctors, nurses, police officers, cowboys, teachers and more roaming our halls all day. It was a great way to wrap up Dr. Seuss Week and the last week before Spring Break. We hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break!!
