Graduation pictures for our Pre-K & Kinder students will be taken tomorrow morning. There was some confusion about the date, however they WILL be here to take photos tomorrow -- Wednesday, March 18. Pictures will be taken by classroom and we should be finished by Noon. Just another sign that the end of the 2025-26 school year is just around the corner!!

🍀 A Little Luck for Our McCord Staff! 🍀

Today the McCord PTO spread a little Luck of the Irish by treating teachers and staff to donuts, grapes, drinks, festive necklaces, and even $1 lottery tickets for a little extra fun. 🍩🍇🥤🎟️

Vernon ISD is incredibly thankful for the support of our PTO. Their thoughtfulness and generosity help make our schools a special place for both staff and students. We appreciate the many ways they invest in and encourage our educators throughout the year.

Our VISD Community Resource Fair will be held Saturday in the VHS Cafeteria. Stop by and learn about the various agencies and organizations that provided services to our community. There will also be fun activities for the family including water balloons and outdoor games. Kona Ice will be on hand selling snowcones. More than 10 door prizes will be given away include two grand prizes -- a set of JBL headphones and an Amazon Echo Show 8. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m.

This week has been Dr. Seuss Week at McCord Elementary as we celebrated the birthday of the author of many wonderful children's books. We wrapped the week today with "The Sleepy Book Day," with students coming to school wearing their favorite pajamas. Here are a couple of pictures. Our students love wearing their PJs to school!!

All Vernon ISD campuses will be operating on their Early Release Friday Schedule tomorrow, as we get an early start on our Spring Break. All district campuses and offices will be closed March 9-March 13. We will return to the classrooms and offices on Monday, March 16. We hope all of our students and their families, along with all of VISD staff and their families have a safe and great Spring Break!

Day" with students dressing their best because it is also Picture Day; and Friday is "The Sleepy Book Day" when students can wear their favorite pajamas.

Making sure your mental health is as good as your physical health is vitally important, and Vernon ISD is partnering with the Region 9 Mental Health Initiative to provide free mental health counseling services for students and staff on our campuses. Tuesday was "Green Eggs and Ham Day" and some of our teachers shared photos of their students wearing green. In Mrs. Weddle's kindergarten class the students ate 'green eggs' which in reality was pudding tinted green with a vanilla wafer in the middle serving as the yolk of the egg. The daily celebrations for the rest of the week include: "Wacky Wednesday Day" when students can wear clothes backwards, inside out, or mismatched; Thursday is "Oh, The Places We Will Go! Day" with students dressing their best because it is also Picture Day; and Friday is "The Sleepy Book Day" when students can wear their favorite pajamas.

This week is School Social Work Week. Our VISD Social Worker Nicole Cameron is always there for our students and their families providing help and information on services available in our area. Nicole, thank you for all you do for our students, their families and Vernon ISD.

Thursday, March 5th is PICTURE DAY for our students as well as our teachers and staff.
The teachers and staff will be taking our annual group photo at 7:15 a.m.

Because of this, staff members will not be at their usual morning posts for drop-off, and we will begin allowing students into the building at 7:20 a.m. instead of our normal time.

We kindly ask for your grace and patience that morning as we quickly capture this special moment together as a school family. 💛
