It's Thursday Night Football -- Lions' style!! We're traveling to Prosper tonight for a non-district game against the Richland Raiders. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be played at Children's Health Stadium. Vernon is 3-0 heading into tonight's contest, while the Raiders are 0-3. Today's spirit pep rally will be held at 11:50 a.m., in Fulton Gym.

The Lions remained undefeated last Friday with a 27-12 victory over the City View Mustangs. Players of the Game were: Malakhi Propes-Scott, Defensive MVP; Tyce Payne, Offensive MVP & Big Stick Award; Ethan Robledo, Ball Hawk; Ty Scott, Most Explosive; Bowie Eakin, Lion Heart; Gavin Ranjel, Special Teams MVP; Donivan Montano, Gunner of the Week; Jamari Chance, Zander Leija, Ethan Robledo, Evan Wilkinson and Kaysono Sanders, Outstanding Blockers.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! To our VHS tennis team, ranked No. 8 in Class 4A in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Poll!! In the fall, the team plays up a division and competes in Class 4A. Wishing the Lions good luck today as they travel to Graham for a district team tennis match against the Steers. Vernon is currently 2-0 in district play.

It was a circus at VHS today -- literally -- as the theme for today's pep rally was "Let's Make the Stangs Crazy." Students and staff alike showed up in their best circus attire.










Our Lady Lions will travel to Holliday this afternoon for a District 7-3A match against the Lady Eagles. The Lady Lions are coming off a thrilling 5-game victory over City View in their district opener Tuesday night. The varsity match will begin at 4 p.m., with the sub-varsity matches to follow. Here's a great way for senior parents to know about all Project Celebration activities, as well as other senior activities.

Please take a moment today to remember the events of 9-11-2001 and those who lost their lives that day. Also, remember the unity our country had immediately after those attacks. The UNITED States of America desperately needs that unity in these current days!

To our Lady Lions volleyball team and VHS tennis team for picking up victories in district matches yesterday. On the tennis court, the Lions defeated Iowa Park, 15-4, in a battle of two of the top teams in the district. Vernon is now 2-0 in district play.
On the volleyball court, the Lady Lions battled and never backed down in capturing a hard-fought 17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 17-15 victory over the City View Lady Mustangs. This was the district opener for volleyball.

This past week, students in Mr. Justin Stone's Principles of Agriculture class attempted to "buzz in first" when they competed in "FFA Jeopardy." Mr. Stone created the game to help students review FFA history for an upcoming exam. Students rotated at the buzzers, while another student did their best Alex Trebek impression for each round. Good luck to everyone on their exam!!



Our Lions tennis team will be traveling to Iowa Park this afternoon for a team tennis district showdown with the Hawks. The match will get underway at 4 p.m., at the Iowa Park High School Tennis Courts. Good luck Lions!!
