Due to the rainouts on Tuesday and the wet field conditions today, Vernon's District 7-3A baseball and softball home games against Jacksboro will be played this evening in Holliday. Fans going to the games are advised to park in the parking lots by the gym or the football field and walk to the fields. Parking WILL NOT be allowed on Eagle Drive, the narrow road that runs in front of the new baseball and softball fields, due to water standing in the ditches.

On Tuesday, students in Mr. Brett White's AP World History class reenacted the painting of the Sistine Chapel. Students were given duct tape to tape their paper to the underside of their desk and painted the "Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. Painting the ceiling required Michelangelo to lay high above the ground on a scaffold. Mr. White said this was the best they could do, but he thought the students gained a new level of appreciation for both the artwork and the artist.

Today is School Librarian Appreciation Day and we want to tell all of our librarians how much you are truly appreciated for all you do for our students. Along with being school librarians, all of you do so much more at your campuses. Thank you!

Congratulations to Christopher Martinez and Kaylee DeLaune who were crowned King and Queen of the 2024 VHS Prom which was held Saturday night at the VHS Cafeteria.

Today's baseball and softball games have been canceled due to field conditions stemming from the rain we received this morning.
At the present time, the Lions baseball game has been moved to tomorrow. It will be varsity only starting at 5 p.m., at Jabe Brazzle Field.
The date and place to makeup the Lady Lions softball game has not yet been determined.
If the area receives more rain tonight or in the morning, game plans may be adjusted once again.

Yesterday VHS seniors picked up their caps and gown for the Class of 2024 Commencement. Just another sign that time is slipping away and graduation is just 46 days away!!!

This is School Librarian Appreciation Day and earlier today VHS Principal Cynthia Jackson presented VHS Librarian Gayla Dehoyos with a plant and a big thank you for all she does for Vernon High School.

From our youngest students to our oldest, those on the McCord and High School campuses enjoyed their time watching the solar eclipse this afternoon.

Yesterday, the VHS Seniors hosted a "Meet and Greet" Forum for Vernon mayor candidates Pam Goslin and Dustin Fraticelli. Each candidate spent 30 minutes with the seniors. Government/History teacher Brett White asked each candidate the same questions. The floor was then opened for students to ask questions. This was a great opportunity for our seniors, 79 of which are are eligible to vote, to learn more about the views of each candidate as well as the process of running for an elected office. We appreciate Pam and Dustin for taking the time to give back to our students.

Congratulations to co-band directors Aaron Burr and Dianne Koch, and to all the members of the Roarin' Lion Band. You make us PROUD!!!
